"I don't feel ready" - What Women Say Before Booking a Boudoir Shoot

“I’ll do it when I feel more confident.”

That’s probably the most common thing I hear from women thinking about booking a boudoir shoot in East Sussex.

And I get it.

Because most people assume confidence comes first.

But in reality?

It usually comes after.

WHAT WOMEN SAY BEFORE THEY BOOK

Before their shoot, most women tell me:

“I hate photos of myself”

“I don’t like my body”

“I wouldn’t know what to do”

“I feel too self-conscious”

They think they’re the exception.

They’re not.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE SHOOT

Nothing dramatic. Nothing forced.

Just:

  • Time to settle in

  • Gentle guidance

  • A space where they’re not judged

And slowly, things shift.

Not because they suddenly love everything about themselves.

But because they stop fighting themselves in the moment.

WHAT CHANGES

It’s not just about the photos.

It’s about:

  • Seeing yourself without immediately criticising

  • Realising you don’t look how you thought you did

  • Letting yourself be seen without hiding

That’s the part no one talks about.

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE READY

This is the bit I wish more people understood.

You don’t need:

  • More confidence

  • A different body

  • A “better” version of yourself

You just need to be willing to start as you are.

I photograph women at my private studio near Eastbourne in East Sussex, many of whom felt exactly like this before booking.

Not ready. Not confident. Not sure.

And still — they did it.

If this sounds like you, you’re not behind.

You’re just at the beginning of it.
